Nuclear decommissioning

Trawsfynydd Nuclear Power Station, Reactor Building Height Reduction

Our Role: Supporting specialist supplier, providing temporary works design and independent design checks for demolition and deplanting operations. Not part of Costain's core delivery team

Trawsfynydd is a shut down Magnox nuclear power station in Gwynedd, North Wales, operational from 1965 until 1991 and undergoing decommissioning since. Costain was appointed by Nuclear Restoration Services, a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, to reduce the height of the site's two 1960s reactor buildings from around 54 metres, cutting them by almost half. PV Consulting acted as a supporting specialist supplier on the programme, providing temporary works design and independent design checks for demolition and deplanting operations, working to the standards required in a regulated nuclear environment. PV Consulting was not part of Costain's core delivery team.

Residential development

Temporary Steel Bridge, Short Span

Our Role: Temporary works design and site inspection

Design and inspection of a temporary short span steel bridge providing site access during construction for residential developer London Square. The design addressed loading, bearing and installation sequence, with inspection carried out during construction to confirm the structure was installed in accordance with the design.
